Editorial Policy

This page explains how The Clean Machine chooses topics, writes and checks articles, and corrects mistakes. Last updated October 25, 2026.

What we cover

The Clean Machine publishes practical guides and news about home cleaning, laundry and household care. We pick topics that readers actively look for and stories that change what readers should know or do: new official guidance, recalls and safety notices, research and notable industry news.

Sources

We base our articles on official agencies, professional and academic bodies, published research, manufacturers’ own documentation and reporting by established news organizations and specialist publications. Each news story links to its sources; guides link to the official pages they rely on. We do not publish rumors, claims we cannot attribute, or sponsored content disguised as editorial content. We do not copy other publishers’ text or photos.

Use of automation and AI

The Clean Machine is a small, editor-led publication that uses automation and AI language models to monitor sources and draft articles. Every draft passes checks before publication: figures must match the cited sources, wording must be original, headlines must not repeat the source headline, and off-topic or low-value stories are discarded. AI is never used to invent facts, quotes, experts, sources, test results or reviews, and we do not create AI images of real people or products. Articles are published under the byline “The Clean Machine Editors”; we do not use made-up author personas.

Health, safety and money topics

Where an article touches on health, safety or costs, we rely on official and professional sources, give ranges rather than false precision, date prices and figures, and say plainly when a reader should consult a qualified professional. Our content is general information and does not replace professional advice.

Testing and reviews

We do not claim hands-on testing we have not done. Buying guides explain what to look for based on published specifications, official safety information and policies, and say so.

Updates

Guides are reviewed and updated when official guidance, prices or products change. Articles show the date they were published or last meaningfully updated.

Corrections

We correct factual errors promptly. See our corrections policy for how to report a mistake and how corrections are shown.

Independence

Advertisers, affiliate partners and sources have no say in what we write or how we rate anything. See ownership and funding.
